The Basics
Recreational Shooting is one of the fastest growing sports. This is no surprise with variety and enjoyment it provides for the whole family. Women are the fastest growing segment of the sport. It’s something we love to see at Jay’s Armory.
Enjoyable and safe shooting start with the 4 primary rules of firearm safety.
- Treat every firearm as if it’s loaded – Always assume a gun is loaded, even if you believe it isn’t.
- Never point a firearm at anything you’re not willing to destroy – Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot – Only place your finger on the trigger when you’re prepared to fire.
- Know your target and what’s beyond it – Be aware of your target, what’s in front of it, and what’s behind it to prevent accidents.
The Next Steps
Whether you’re looking to target shoot or carry a concealed weapon (CCW) to anything in between we suggest taking the USCCA Concealed Carry course. This class will provide the foundation for safe and responsible CCW and gun ownership. Additionally it opens the door to the many other USCCA classes to continue your education.

- Women’s Firearm Training – Firearm safety and self-defense classes designed specifically for women taught by women.
- Youth Firearm Safety – Education for children on firearm safety, storage, and handling.
- First Aid – Training in emergency medical response after a life-threatening incident.
- Active Shooter Training – Preparedness and response strategies for active shooter situations.
Jay’s Armory also offers 1 on 1 training if you prefer a more targeted experience, both male and female instructors are available.
